Our Process

Your fully integrated CDMO service provider. Looking to develop and bring your products to market efficiently and professionally? Talk to us today to start the process.

From concept development and formulation through to manufacturing, scale ups. packaging and logistic improvements. Our end-to-end approach allows customers to work with a single experienced partner throughout the entire product lifecycle. Unlike many providers offering lots but deliver little and only offer standard white label products with limited flexibility, every project we undertake at Calleva Nutrition is developed around your specific brand objectives in mind. We’re here to make your life easier.

As consumer trends evolve rapidly across sports nutrition, health, wellness and nutraceuticals, we continue to invest in advanced processes and technologies to ensure our customers can access modern, commercially relevant product solutions that compete in today’s marketplace.

The Calleva Process

1. Concept

Whether you’ve thought up something totally new or simply just have a requirement for a product to add to your pre existing range, all you need to do is get in touch by phone or email and one of our technical team will be ready to discuss further. if necessary we can put in place any mutual confidentiality agreements at this stage before discussions get more detailed.

2. Initial Discussion

We like to talk a project over in good detail so you know exactly what you’ll get from Calleva, and so we know exactly what you’re expecting. initially we will talk in broad detail about the feasibility, estimated timescales, approximate costs and minimum order quantities so you can quickly tell whether it will work for you. We’re flexible though so are always willing to offer alternatives or adjustments where needed.

3. Meeting

As soon as possible after initial discussions if it looks like the project will go ahead we’ll invite you to visit our state of the art offices, Product Development and Production site in Somerset, UK. Here we can finalise the brief and maybe even do some initial product tasting to make the most of your visit and get first hand feedback from you for any tweaks and adjustments.

4. Samples and trials

In line with the brief we’ll produce samples you can use for tasting within your organisation or even to carry out wider consumer trials and tastings as required. Our main aim is to get as close as possible to the target first time to minimise a long and drawn out development phase but we realise this isn’t always achievable so will make as many trials as needed to get the result you want.

5. Packaging Design

This goes hand in hand with the initial sampling stage of the process as you’ll have an idea what format you want to sell the product in (single serve, bulk etc), and we can finalise the serving size and therefore pack dimensions and shapes for you at this stage. Now is the time to discuss any special shapes for sachets as bespoke tooling may be required (at additional cost) to achieve this. You can also set your graphic designers to work on the artwork for the packaging at this point once we have a final pack template

6. Final Specs

Agree final product specifications with an approved sample and project sign off. we will provide the necessary paperwork to enable correct labelling and once all artwork has been submitted a final print proof will be issued for your approval and sign off

7. Production

This is where everything comes together and after procurement of any bespoke and non-stock ingredients or packaging consumables the production run will be scheduled in to our program and an estimated delivery date will be given

8. Testing

During and after production we will as a minimum carry out a suite of organoleptic and physical tests internally to assess the products, and may also send out the product for microbiological testing (product dependent) at a UKAS lab. Nutritional testing is also available as is banned substance testing at a reduced rate through our membership of the Informed Sport Program.

9. Delivery

The final stage of the process will see you receiving your new product. Again, we can be flexible with delivery, and can either prepare for collection by your own transport or logistics contractor, or even assist and liaise with an international haulier or export freight forwarder if you are a customer outside the UK. We have several trusted transport partners so are always happy to provide a quote for delivery if you prefer us to arrange this too.
