The Calleva Process

1. Concept
Whether you’ve thought up something totally new or simply just have a requirement for a product to add to your pre existing range, all you need to do is get in touch by phone or email and one of our technical team will be ready to discuss further. If necessary we can put in place any mutual confidentiality agreements at this stage before discussions get more detailed.
2. Initial Discussion
We like to talk a project over in good detail so you know exactly what you’ll get from Calleva, and so we know exactly what you’re expecting. Initially we will talk in broad detail about the feasibility, estimated timescales, approximate costs and minimum order quantities so you can quickly tell whether it will work for you. We’re flexible though so are always willing to offer alternatives or adjustments where needed.
3. Meeting
As soon as possible after initial discussions we’ll invite you to visit our state of the art Offices, Product Development and Production site in Somerset, UK. Here we can finalise the brief and maybe even do some initial product tasting to make the most of your visit and get first hand feedback from you for any tweaks and adjustments.
4. Samples and trials
In line with your brief, we’ll produce samples for internal tastings, customer reviews, or wider consumer testing if required. Our goal is always to achieve the closest possible match to your target from the outset, helping to keep development timelines efficient. Where refinements are needed, our team will work closely with you to fine-tune the formulation until it meets your expectations.
5. Packaging Design
As your product takes shape, we’ll help define the ideal packaging format, from single-serve sachets through to larger bulk packs. We’ll finalise serving sizes and pack specifications, and provide you with the templates needed for your design team to begin your artwork creation. This ensures packaging development can progress alongside the final stages of product development, helping keep your project on track.
6. Final Specs
Agree final product specifications with an approved sample and project sign off. We will provide the necessary paperwork to enable correct labelling and once all artwork has been submitted a final print proof will be issued for your approval and sign off
7. Production
This is where everything comes together and after procurement of any bespoke and non-stock ingredients or packaging consumables the production run will be scheduled in to our program and an estimated delivery date will be given
8. Testing
During and after production we will as a minimum carry out a suite of organoleptic and physical tests internally to assess the products, and may also send out the product for microbiological testing (product dependent) at a UKAS lab. Nutritional testing is also available as is banned substance testing at a reduced rate through our membership of the Informed Sport Program.
9. Delivery
The final stage of the process will see you receiving your new product. Again, we can be flexible with delivery, and can either prepare for collection by your own transport or logistics contractor, or even assist and liaise with an international haulier or export freight forwarder if you are a customer outside the UK. We have several trusted transport partners so are always happy to provide a quote for delivery if you prefer us to arrange this too.
